Chris Hemsworth is known worldwide for his portrayal of the Norse god Thor in the Marvel movie universe. But unlike the seemingly immortal and eternally young character on screen, Hemsworth is a normal person. In time, he'll get old and he'll die — unless he can do something about it. And that is exactly what he is trying to do now.

What if you could fight aging and discover the full potential of the human body?

Limitless, a new documentary series from National Geographic on Disney+, is a personal mission for Hemsworth (who is in great superhero shape anyway) to learn how to maintain our health, strength, and intellect into old age.

The teaser trailer and its posts on social media about longevity have been viewed and liked millions of times, showing the demand and interest in this type of post.

With the series premiering on November 16, we can take part in an emotional, funny, and death-defying journey that not only tests science but also raises the question of why and how we should all go beyond our own means.

The first season will consist of six episodes, each with an expert taking Hemsworth through various physical and mental challenges that force him to go beyond his limits. In this way, we gain insights into how the human body works and how we can achieve and extend peak performance.

One episode discusses the potential benefits of fasting, with Hemsworth having to go four days without food. Other episodes address topics such as memory, stress, shock, strength, and acceptance.

In a 2006 film by director Aronofskys, the character Theo in “The Fountain,” portrayed by Hugh Jackman, says: “Death is an illness. He is just like any other... and there is a cure... a cure... and I will find it.”

Aronofsky said: “I remember when that line came up in the movie I was thinking about whether she wasn't too crazy to include it in the movie and [whether] people would find it ridiculous. Now it seems like a lot of people are taking them seriously. ”

Commenting on the growing interest in this topic, the director says: “... suddenly, a lot of resources are flowing into the science of longevity. All big tech companies now have all these departments and institutes that deal with it.”

Limitless is now joining a growing list of films, TV shows and media projects about longevity.
